How do I check availability and secure my date?

Accepted Answer

Send your proposed date, venue and type of photography through the enquiry form. A 50% non-refundable retainer and acceptance of the quote and Photography Services Agreement are required to secure the booking. Availability alone does not reserve a date.

When is the remaining balance due?

The balance must be paid before any photographs are released, including previews or sneak peeks. Paying early does not change the normal editing schedule; expedited delivery must be arranged separately as a rush service.

How long will it take to receive my photographs?

The standard turnaround is 30 working days, excluding weekends and South African public holidays. Any shorter delivery promised for a particular commission will be stated in the quote or agreement.

Can I receive my photographs sooner?

Yes, when editing capacity allows. Rush turnaround must be requested and approved in advance and carries an additional fee. Paying the ordinary balance early does not automatically move a commission ahead of other confirmed work.

How will my photographs be delivered?

Images are normally delivered through a private online gallery with high-resolution downloads and easy mobile viewing. Galleries are available for a limited period, so clients must download and safely back up their photographs before the stated expiry date.

Do you offer albums, photobooks and printed products?

Yes. Depending on the commission, you can add a photographic album, commemorative book, guest book, prints or a framed statement portrait. Digital-only delivery is also available where appropriate.

What is the difference between event and portrait photography?

Event photography tells the wider story through décor, candid interactions, formalities, entertainment and selected groups. Portrait photography reserves focused time for directed individual, couple or family portraits. Dedicated portrait time should be included when portraits are a major event priority.

Do you provide every photograph or unedited RAW files?

Unedited or RAW files are not supplied. The service includes professional selection, colour work and finishing in Ashleigh Rose Photography’s established style. Portrait packages may include a specified number of selected final images.

Absolutely. Please identify important people, relationships and must-have moments before the shoot. A concise priority list is especially useful for large families, religious celebrations, matric dances and corporate events.

What is the difference between an immediate-family and extended-family session?

An immediate-family session covers one household or family unit. An extended-family session includes additional relatives or multiple family units. Larger groups require more planning and time, so pricing may differ.

Can another photographer take photographs alongside Ashleigh?

Accepted Answer

Ashleigh Rose Photography must be the appointed professional photographer unless another arrangement is agreed in writing. Guests may take ordinary phone photographs where appropriate, but another DSLR, mirrorless-camera operator or competing photographer can disrupt directed groups and use limited shooting time.

Does photography begin before the stated booking time?

No. The booked starting time is when photography begins. Arriving earlier to park and prepare equipment is not additional shooting time. Empty-room décor, setup photographs or early family portraits must be requested and included in the quote.

What happens if our event runs late?

Accepted Answer

Coverage ends at the booked time. If Ashleigh is available and you ask her to remain, additional time will be billed at the agreed overtime rate. Extra coverage cannot be guaranteed, so speeches, cake, entertainment and dancing should be allowed for in the original booking.

What if we arrive late for a portrait session?

Please arrive ready to begin at the booked time. Late arrival reduces the available shooting time and may affect the number of combinations photographed. A significant delay may require rescheduling when another booking follows.

Friendly, calm, respectful and organised. Ashleigh gives clear direction for portraits and steps back for genuine candid moments. Clients identify important people and formalities while Ashleigh manages light, posing, timing and visual storytelling.

Do you photograph guests while they are eating?

Accepted Answer

Food, table settings and catering details may be photographed, but close photographs of people actively eating are generally avoided. Scheduling formalities, portraits and entertainment before or after meal service makes better use of the booked time.

What lighting conditions work best?

Accepted Answer

Soft shade and late-afternoon light are flattering outdoors. Harsh midday sun, extremely dark venues, coloured tenting and spaces without suitable surfaces for flash can limit the final look. Share venue and lighting information beforehand so Ashleigh can advise.

What should we wear, and how much retouching is included?

Choose comfortable clothing that coordinates without being identical and does not distract from the people. Editing includes careful colour, exposure and natural finishing; extensive body reshaping or major image manipulation is not part of the standard service.

How far do you travel?

Ashleigh Rose Photography is based in Randburg and works throughout Johannesburg and Gauteng. Travel outside the included area is quoted separately, generally at R4 per kilometre where applicable. Multiple venues may require additional travel time and charges.
